Gayle was admitted to practice in 1998 and started with Simmons Wolfhagen that same year. She became a partner in 2006.

Gayle specialises in public liability, professional indemnity and general insurance matters, with a strong emphasis on medico-legal litigation. She also acts for the Motor Accidents Insurance Board in relation to personal injury claims arising from motor accidents.  Gayle acts for several self insurers for workers compensation and appears before the Workers Rehabilitation and Compensation Tribunal.

Gayle is a member of the Medico-Legal Society of Tasmania, Women Lawyers Association of Tasmania and Australian Lawyers Alliance.

Outside of her practice, Gayle is a board member of the Hobart District Nursing Service and a legal presenter for the National Heart Foundation “Heart Moves” program. She is also honorary solicitor for the Lindisfarne Rowing Club.
